Depart your home town and begin your journey to Namibia . Your Day 1 varies upon your departure city. Day 2 begins once you arrive in Windhoek , Namibia .

Day 2-3 - Sossusvlei
Depart Windhoek by air and travel to the Sossusvlei, one of the most remarkable sites in the Namib-Naukluft Park and the Namib Desert . Huge, towering dunes, said to be the highest in the world, rise dramatically over 1000 feet above the surrounding plains at Sossusvlei itself. The spectacle of changing colors and the lonely Oryx silhouetted against red dunes is one which visitors and photographers from around the world come to savour and capture on film. Your accommodations are situated on a 7,000 hectare private property with wonderful desert scenery. Each room is superbly appointed and offers comfort and atmosphere. The en-suite bathrooms have panoramic views overlooking the plains below and have hot and cold running water, showers and flush toilets. Each of the guest rooms has a private plunge pool offering guests a refreshing way to cool off in the heat of the afternoon. Activities include early morning excursions in 4X4 vehicles to the magnificent Sossusvlei dunes and the "vlei" itself at the end of the Tsauchab River - a dry river bed that flows only in years of exceptional rainfall. Afternoon activities are on the property, taking in the desert scenery and its unique fauna and flora. On the edge of the oldest desert in the world, this is not a game-rich area. However, whatever game we see is interesting and dramatized by contrast between the desert and animals like Springbok, Gemsbok (Oryx) and Ostrich who manage to survive in these harsh conditions.

Early morning mists, generated by the meeting of the icy Atlantic and the warm land mass along the Skeleton Coast , drift inland along the river line, providing sustenance to varied life-forms. Activities revolve around nature drives and walks into the Huab River system searching for the endangered desert Elephant, Black Rhinoceros, Oryx, Kudu, Springbok and other species that have come to terms with life in a desert environment. Even Lion and Cheetah move in and out of the area occasionally. Accommodation is in comfortable, walk-in tents each with en-suite facilities and a private veranda.
