Lamu lies north of Mombasa on the Kenya Coast . The island has not changed in the last century except for a few modern conveniences. There is a charming Afro-Arab village with beautiful beaches and numerous water sports can be arranged from the hotel. A 2-3 night stay is suggested at romantic Peponi's Hotel, or for those looking for a remote island getaway, Kiwayu Island .

Mombasa

With a population of over 600,000, this is Kenya 's second largest city. 307 miles from Nairobi, this paradise is known for it's harbors, old towns, great Swahili food and just north & south of the town, the white sand beaches of Nyali, Mombasa, Kenyatta, Shanzu and Diani. Sailing, wind-surfing, water-skiing, scuba-diving and snorkeling are all available just off Mombasa 's beautiful coral reefs.
