We are a couple who share a deep passion for Africa and it’s many diverse cultures. Join us as we lead you on this very special Safari.
About Steve: My real passion is exploring remote places; this desire has led me to the African Continent. The most exciting aspect of traveling Africa is meeting and connecting with the people and tracking wildlife. I have led and organized Safaris and Expeditions throughout the African Continent for the past eighteen years.
About Eleanor: I enjoy many different aspects that Africa has to offer. Most of all I enjoy trading skills with the ladies as I share my modern way of life with them and they teach me their traditional skills. We share these through our passion for, cooking, knitting, weaving, and I have recently learned how to build a Bush Hut!
About this Safari: Most folks traveling to Tanzania at this time of the year are doing so to see the mass migration of animals in and around the Serengeti National Park. The key to making your migration Safari an amazing event is the experience of our guides. I have selected a very special team of local guides and cooks that I have traveled with for years.
Eleanor and I have also incorporated a few of our favorite destinations in Tanzania, Lake Natron, Ol Donyo Lengai, the Crater Highlands, the Great Rift Valley, Boundry Hill Lodge located on the Loikasale Private Concession, and the optional two-day walk with our Masai friends!
By participating in this unique Safari Expedition it will open up new avenues for self-discovery, creativity, release, knowledge and communication, as well as the development of respect for and interaction with people from remarkably diverse cultures.

Descend down onto the Ngorongoro Crater floor (45 minute drive) for great game viewing. Ngorongoro is one of the most spectacular game haunts in Africa and has been designated a World Heritage site. Nearly 10 X 12 square miles in size, it contains an impressive variety of wildlife including lions with black manes, the highly endangered black rhino, herds of wildebeest, zebra, elephants, hippo, and hyena. The bird life is also prolific, with flocks of flamingos on the soda lake, plus other species of birds. A picnic lunch is served at one of the rest areas found in the crater. You may also see the Maasai herdsmen, grazing their cattle along the rim or bringing their animals down to drink at the lake in the crater.

Empakai Crater/Rift Valley Highlands
Today we start our two-day journey on foot. You will be hiking through some of the most stunning scenery in all of East Africa. We start the day walking through beautiful greenery. About mid-day we come to a more open area with fewer trees, then a remote mountain village. We stop for some tea or they may even have a warm beer since there is no refrigeration in the village. As we depart the village way off in the distance we get our first glimpse of Ol Donyo Lengai, the most important mountain to the Masai. Ol Donyo Lengai means the Mountain of God!

As we depart Acacia Camp for the first couple of hours we travel through woods and might even see some ladies fetching water from a nearby stream. Then we come to the clearing, off in the distance we see Ol Donyo Lengai, which we will see for the remainder of the day. If your eyesight is real good, you can see Lake Natron way off in the distance. At the end of this day we arrive at out private camp in the Lake Natron area where we will meet-up with the others. How about a shower?

Day 6 – Non Walking Group
Depart Manyara early for Lake Natron. This is perhaps one of the most amazing drives in all of East Africa, as our route takes us through the Great Rift Valley. There are a couple of villages' enroute, but wait until you experience the scenery! You will arrive at the Village at Lake Natron, where you can visit with the locals and maybe find a semi cold beer!
Natron Big Tent- en suite Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
OPTION: Any member of our party will have the opportunity to climb Ol Donyo Lengai this evening. The climb is extremely difficult and is only recommend for folks that are very fit. The climb starts at midnight and takes about eight hours. Cost is $125 per person plus a small tip for the mountain guides.
Day 7
This morning travel onward to the vast Serengeti Plans. The park lies in a high plateau between the Ngorongoro highlands and the Kenya/Tanzanian border, extending almost to Lake Victoria. It encompasses the main part of the Serengeti ecosystem.
The most famous features of the Serengeti are the spectacular concentration of animals found nowhere else in the world, as well as the annual wildebeest migration. This spectacle sees more than one million wildebeest, 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson's gazelles trek to new grazing grounds. The brief population explosion of wildebeest produces over 8,000 calves a day before the migration begins.
Private Tented Camp, Big Tent-en suite Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 8-10
Serengeti National Park
Spend these days discovering all that Serengeti has to offer.
As in all ecosystems the vegetation and types of animals you find are closely correlated. The principal features of the park are the short and long grass open plains in the southeast, the acacia savannah in the central area, the hilly, more densely wooded northern section, and the extensive woodland and black clay plains, dominated by the central ranges of mountains in the western corridor.
Private Tented Camp, Big Tent-en suite Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 11-13
Tarangire national park/Loikasale private concession
This morning travel to Tarangire National Park Region. The area is the quintessence of all that is Africa with its diverse flora and fauna it has a prehistoric feel. The terrain is diverse, including savannah, woodlands, and river valleys. With a permanent water source, it is the home to countless species of birds, hoofed animals and cats. Spend the rest of these days viewing wildlife. Search for giraffe, lion, leopard, hyena, and it is hard not to come across part of the 3,000 elephants that inhabit the area.
NOTE: In this area most tourists stay at locations in the National Park. We will be staying at the beautiful Boundry Hill Lodge, which is located within the Loikasale Private Concession area encompassing 6000 plus hectares. The Lodge is only a few kilometers from the Tarangire National Park entrance, so those that want to game drive in the National Park have that option available, however being the fact that the concession area is private you can experience walking in the bush and night game drives. Neither of these activities are an option within the National Park. This is a very special place, one of my personal favorites!
