About ninety percent of travelers to Tanzania travel to the northern circuit, which includes the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. In addition to all of the wonderful Safaris we offer to the northern circuit, we want to make you aware of the amazing southern circuit in Tanzania. There is excellent Game Viewing in these areas as well. They include the Selous Game Reserve, Ruaha National Park, Mikumi National Park, Katavi National Park, and the Swahili Coast. We also offer Safaris to Mahale and Gombe National Parks. Many of our clients combine the northern and southern circuits!

Day 1
Depart your US home city on your journey to Africa.
Day 2
Arrive in Dar Es Salaam and connect to your flight to Selous departing at 10:30. The plane swoops over the Rufiji River on its approach to landing, a dramatic arrival to the World Heritage Site and one of the largest Conservation areas in Africa. On arrival you are met by your local hosts and transferred to camp, a short drive, leaving plenty of time for an afternoon game activity.

Day 3
The main feature of Selous is the sprawling river system with linked lakes and channels. The days activities are planned the night before and you can choose between walking, boating or vehicle safaris. Selous is the only location in Tanzania where boating safaris are possible and they are an exciting alternative to the vehicle.

Day 4
Today you have the option of a full day safari in the Selous with picnic lunch or morning and afternoon safaris, returning to camp for lunch.

Day 5
After breakfast and a short drive we will take you to the airstrip for the flight to Ruaha National Park, arriving in time for an afternoon game drive.

Day 6
Today you will have the choice of either a morning and evening game drive with lunch back at the lodge or a full day game drive with picnic lunch.

Day 7
Ruaha National Park has a wealth of different habitats to explore, from grassy plains, escarpment woodlands and rocky kopjes. Hippo pools and an abundance of bird life make for many alternative game drives. Alternatively, you can take a guided walk (supplement) along the river with a lift back once you reach your destination.

Day 8
Today you will have the choice of either a morning and evening game drive with lunch back at the lodge or a full day game drive with picnic lunch.

Day 9
After a full morning game drive ending at the airstrip (picnic lunch provided) you will depart at 1:45 p.m. on your flight back to Dar Es Salaam, arriving late afternoon.
