Camel Trekking in the Sahara

 

 

This Expedition takes place in one of the most beautiful Desert Regions of the Sahara. We will enjoy the peace and tranquility the desert has to offer, while at the same time embarking on a true journey. Our main objective is to deliver medicine and food to isolated Tuareg Nomads in this region.

Travel Recap:

Day 1 Arrive in Agadez, Niger the capital of this Tuareg region, and gateway to the Sahara.
Overnight: Pension Tellit
Day 2 Today you will tour Agadez, including the Sultan of Agadez's Palace where we will meet the Sultan himself, if he is available. Visit the livestock market and the artisans' village where Tuareg artists work with leather, silver and gold before departing in 4X4 vehicles into the Sahara Desert, traveling to an ancient dinosaur archeological site.

Day 3 Head towards the desert region known as Tenere, visiting ancient engravings and searching for fossilized wood as we make our way to Yofagadot, an ancient well for salt caravans in hopes of meeting up with some of the traveling salt caravans.

Day 4 Today we continue across the Tenere, heading for Ejoua, another strategic well for traveling caravans.

Day 5 Today we will meet up with our Tuareg Guides and camels and head into the unknown landscape in search of nomads. Each person will be provided with their own camel and a briefing will be given on the proper way to ride a before we depart.

Day 6 - 10 These five days we travel through the desert on camel back, in search of the local nomads so we can complete our mission of the delivery of the medicines and millet.

Day 11 Today we meet up with the vehicles again and travel towards the oasis of Timia.

Day 12 Arrive in Timia. It is quite a stunning site as we see green for the first time in a long time. Timia is an oasis with very beautiful lush gardens, a water fall, fruits, vegetables and maybe a cool drink, after our long journey.

Day 13 Today we will tour in Timia, before heading back into the desert towards Agadez.

Day 14 Arrive in Agadez in time for a little shopping before continuing to your hotel for overnight.

Day 15 You will be transferred to the Agadez airport for your international departure.

Inclusions All stated accommodations, camping equipment while on the expedition, all meals except in Agadez, all permit fees and entrance fees and all airport transfers. Accommodation is based on double occupancy, single supplement is available.
Exclusions Visa fees, any and all airline costs, airport departure taxes, meals while in Agadez, sleeping bag and towel, items of a personal nature, travel and medical insurance, tips for staff, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. On a trip of this nature you can purchase drinks before we depart town.
